  • It’s quite possible that Cesanese was the red wine of ancient Rome because the grape is quite old and existed in the region during pre-Roman times.
FEATURED RED: Cesanese – Casale del Giglio, Rosso, Lazio, Italy, 2015 $12/$48.

The Casale del Giglio vineyard is redefining the Italian viticulture by producing exceptional wines in previously undiscovered areas. Cesanese comes from a low yielding red variety, native to the Lazio region which is proving to be strict competition for many “super Tuscans”. Slight hint of spice, and ripe red berries, with an incredibly smooth, long finish.

Excellent with Shrimp, Haddock, and Swordfish

  • “Among the rare red wines of Lazio, Cesanese del Piglio is the most interesting,” says Rome-based wine historian Andrea Gabbrielli. “Today, the market wants wines with identity and personality and even though Cesanese is an antique variety, it represents an exciting new trend.” – CLAUDIA RICCI (Wine Enthusiast Mag)
FEATURED WHITE: Satrico – Casale del Giglio, Rosso, Lazio, Italy, 2016 $10/$40.

The Satrico is a blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Trebbiano grapes cultivated in an unexplored vine growing territory where extensive experimentation with non-native grape varieties and the introduction of innovative vineyard techniques have combined to make outstanding wines. Bright, stone-fruit notes with a crisp, light finish.

Perfect with Salmon, Tuna, and Paella
